ok, so i don't know if this is "old news", and if this has been seen, and or mentioned already.
if it was, i do apologize, but i feel i have to mention what has been seen on tv, within the past 24 hours.. first off, i would like to say that i did not personally see this commercial.
however, it was seen by someone that i can verify 100% is telling the truth, as it was my own father who saw it.

"traumatic as the initial transition may be, it can lead to the development of a truly personal relationship with these two greatest friends [the father and the son] .
.. "whatever sense of 'belonging' that membership in some religious system may create, it can never compare with the power and beauty and strengthening benefit of the intimate personal relationship the scripture presents .
from reading joseph campbell i've come to understand that there are functions to religion or mythology.
Personally, there are a lot of rules in the Bible I don't subscribe to.
I've heard they are attracted to paper and glue. People can't let anything moist around. You are supposed to dry your sinks. If this new powder works the way boric acid does, you see them losing ground and falling to the ground. One week showed incredible results.
Adopt the attitude that you will eradicate them. Trust fund kids seem to enjoy them. Not me!

i've heard all my cognizant life that angels from heaven looked upon the daughters of men, took wives, and their wives bore giants called nephilim.. i've heard all my adult life about the book of enoch and why it's apocryphal and to be avoided.. so tonight i was curious enough to download an e-book and have a look, since dothemath had the thread about rarely used scriptures and the book of jude directly quotes from the book of enoch.. if jude quotes from enoch, shouldn't both or neither of them be canonical?
if you consider jude canonical, then enoch should be too.. hey, how many fallen angels were there again?
two thirds of heaven, right?
So, this is silly, isn't it? If you accept Jude in the canon, you must also accept Enoch, and then revel in the magic and high fantasy therein.
Here's watchtower's (and I believe other fundamentalist's) work-around for that one:
Just because it LOOKS like Jude is citing the book of Enoch, doesn't mean it is. There could be another source that both Jude and the Book of Enoch are both citing separately.

on the subject welcome others the new light is i can now have limited association with df and da ones at the kingdom hall not strictl avoidance..
What was the new light? And, what is a CLAM?
CLAM stands for Christian Life and Ministry, so what's being referred to in the OP is the "workbook" produced by the society for the weekly CLAM meeting.
There is no new light. Just doublespeak in a footnote to an article about welcoming "everyone" at the meetings.
in the time since i've left the borg behind i've had a few things hit me as to how words were used.
i'm wondering if anyone else has some similar examples, but here are some things that have made me think:.
watchtower - my whole life i saw this as a thing of protection from outside evil forces, and then when i left someone pointed out "isn't that what they used to keep people in prison".
Ok, strange you brought this up. . . .
My wife and I were food shopping today, I'm in the baking aisle, dried herbs and spices section. Alluvusudden, this phrase pops into my mind:
I have no idea where the hell that came from. I was looking for seasoned salt at the time.

Ah!
But he is both legitimate president AND complete asshole at the same time!
i have often seen many categorise the organisation in different ways.
some say cult, some say high control religion.
cult or high control religion?.
OUTLAW -- It's more like NO IT'S NOT. . . It says so on jw.borg!
a month ago i decided to register in this board.
i had decided to step down pioneering but was frightened about the consequences.
i had finished my university degree some months before (despite disaproval from brothers in my congregation) and i had to choose: continue pioneering and working in jobs with no future or starting a career, working full-time.. i was thinking to postpone the decisiton but... i was fed up with preaching.
Wow boc. . . More sacred than God!!! It's going to take some time to absorb this - TEPIDPOULTRY
It took me a while as well. . . . about four years, actually/unfortunately.

Not a big POOPIE fan myself, but the footnote is interesting. . . if you appreciate watchtower's doublespeak. . . .
*Bible principles limit our dealings with disfellowshipped or disassociated ones who may attend meetings.—1Co 5:11; 2Jo 10.
Weasel words. Complete bullshit.
It's like saying "Please limit the electrical flow to the light bulb" instead of saying "Turn off the lights!"
